How to be an Effective Consumer Duty Champion
Overview
In July 2023, the FCA Consumer Duty came into force.
The obligations being introduced as part of the new Duty are wide-ranging and firms are expected to appoint a member of their Board (or governing body) to serve as the Consumer Duty champion. Firms will need to devote significant time and resources to ensure they comply within the deadlines set by the FCA and the FCA will expect the champion to support the Chair and CEO in ensuring that i) the Duty is being raised regularly in all relevant discussions, and ii) the Board is challenging the firm’s governing body/management on how it is embedding the Duty and focusing on consumer outcomes.
This briefing provides the Consumer Duty champion and those supporting this individual with the tools and knowledge to ask the right questions at senior management and Board level. [The trainer is himself a Consumer Duty champion, so will be able to bring real-life experience to the session.]
